Zinglogo created these ink and watercolour illustrations for Sovereign Hill Ballarat. The four boards depict characters from the gold rush era in Ballarat Australia such as an elegant lady with a full skirt and umbrella, a trooper dressed in a blue uniform, a mother and daughter shopping in a goldfields store, a gold digger with a pick and pan. Some of the background depicts elements of the 1850’s such as  and a poppet head, and Redcoat soldiers. These boards are strategically placed throughout Sovereign Hill for visitors to take photos and enjoy.Sovereign Hill is a living museum that tells the narrative of Ballarat during the gold rush. Gold was discovered here in 1851, sparking the world’s largest alluvial gold rush. Ballarat evolved quickly from a tranquil pastoral town to a splendid provincial city built on the wealth garnered from its gold. Sovereign Hill’s Outdoor Museum, which spans 15 hectares of a former gold mining site, brings the gold rushes to life through a live township complete with diggings, underground mines, costumed people, coach rides, and 1850s businesses, trades, schools, and houses. These face in the hole boards (also known as photo stand-in, or comic foreground) is a board with a picture printed on it with holes cut out for people to insert their faces through for comedic effect.
